I Must Confess!

There is a deep dark secret in my life right now that I can no longer hide from! I have the ugliest bedroom in America. No, I am not kidding! It is ugly! In fact, it is so bad that I cannot bring myself to post pictures of it. It would send shock waves through the blog world.

Let me give you a little history. My new husband has always lived in this house. When he divorced many years ago. He bought a chair, a table, and a sofa. There were a few leftovers here and there, but not much. But the one thing that was left was a master bedroom painted bright pink. Now, don't get me wrong, I love pink. But, this is really pink, dark, glaring pink with a border of lace and hatboxes. I am sure back in the day it must have looked nice, but that day is gone, done, finished! When I moved in, I did tear down the border and take down the dated Home Interior pictures that were left behind. So what I am left with is some really ugly walls.

I went to Walmart today and bought some paint. So tomorrow, we are going to tackle the master bedroom. I want to lighten the room up, it is not very big and the furniture is large and has a dark wood finish. So I am going to paint the walls with a color called Graceful Willow. It is a creamy colored paint. When we move the furniture back in, then I will shop around for a new bedspread. I looked a little today with no luck. I really have a hard time choosing a bedspread, due to the cost and the fact that you have to live with it so long. The one I have now is at least 10 years old and it is time to retire it to my sister's house. She needs one and mine is in great shape, just so tired of it.

One of the challenges for me is trying to find a color we can both be happy with. I am always drawn to red, always! Honey, likes blue and very light colors. So, I may try blue this time. If I could find a blue toile, I think I might be happy with that. I could sneak a little bit of red in there somewhere. I also have alot of re-arranging to do in this room. Right now the filing cabinet has to be moved to another room, and several other things that just need to find new homes.

So, I will post new pictures after the paint goes up. Hopefully, it will turn out great and I will finally feel more at home in my new house. It takes a little while to make a home feel like yours when you first move in. This will be a step in the right direction!
Have a wonderful week!

Opps, forgot to give info on the red box. That was made by "Favorite home to visit" blog, I have a link on my post to her blog, so I am not sure if they were copies of gooseberry or from a calender or what, but if you leave her a question on her blog, I'm sure she will let you know! I love her talents too, I am making one just like it this week! how fun! :)

Redecorating is such a blast - and you are right to take your time with your bedding - it is with you for a while so it needs to make your heart glad every time you see it. Have you thought of looking for something 'ready-loved' like an antique handmade quilt or cover? Often they are beautiful and have colours which are so easy on the eye in case you change your mind in the future.

I do love your red idea though - and I DEFINITELY agree with Cottage in the Curve - before pictures are needed!!!

Have a great evening Lorri!
