Over the Christmas holiday's, I had ask my new mother in law if she would teach me to crochet doilies. I had never learned to do anything more than a simple crochet stitch with yarn and have always wanted to learn. I bought some thread and a book and have practiced a bit, I turned out a very sad looking piece that I promptly threw away. Today, my MIL came over and brought me a sack of 21 doilies that she has crocheted since Christmas and gave them to me! I was so excited. There are doilies of every shape and size. I have spent the afternoon, starching and ironing them to display all over the house. She worked with me and we started on one. I am just not very good at it. But, I will continue to practice and hopefully be able to make one. In the meantime I have lots of new ones to decorate with. I just love them.
Have a wonderful week and happy decorating!

Those are gorgeous, Lorri! Your mother-in-law is talented. I'm sure weith a little practice you will be making beautiful doilies like this! I'd love to learn to make these as well. You MUST tell me about your experience in your haunted house. I too lived in one (which made me believe there is something else out there). My ex husband and I lived in a house that was once an infirmary for an old Air Force Base. :)
Lovely...and from a lovely lady it appears! My dear MIL is a quilter, so I'm the lucky recipient of her gems. Those doilies will look wonderful in your home, especially that redone bedroom!
That is wonderful!! I would love to have someone to teach me to make such beautiful things!!
:)
Your MIL sounds like a wonderful lady Lorri! It is always so much easier to learn something new from someone who is willing to sit with you patiently and help, than trying to learn oneself! Happy crocheting!
Oh, these are so beautiful! Lucky you! Some of these are the same patterns my grandma crocheted too and I'm fortunate enough to have them. Good luck learning to crochet. I have a friend who is so good and has tried to teach me. Alas, I'm hopeless. :-(
These are lovely. You are blessed to have such a wonderful mother-in-law. I never saw MIL before, it took me a minute to know what you meant.
