Childhood Memories

When I was a little girl. I wanted to be a Ballerina. I lived in a very small community that did not offer dance lessons of any type. My mother bought me some ballet slippers when I was 6 years old. That year for my birthday she made me a cake that I thought was the most wonderful of all. My grandmother had a set of 3 tier cake pans, that you would make a wedding cake with. Mom made me a cake with them, frosted in light pink with dancing ballerinas all around the tiers. On the very top was a much larger ballerina dressed in a pink tutu! For some reason, mother did not take pictures of this particular birthday party. So I do not have a picture of it. But I have never forgot it! Funny how a simple picture can bring back distant memories otherwise forgotten. I hope you take time today to make some special memories with the little people in your life.

Hugs,
Lorri

Hi Lorri; I love that sweet memory of your birthday. Your Mom sounds like a very loving and caring Lady. The ballerina's are so sweet looking, my daughter too ballet lessons when she was small, I so miss that... Thanks for Sharing.

Hugs;

What gorgeous little ballerinas Lorri!! And very timely for me!! I am picking up tulle fabric tomorrow - I got a fantastic tip for making little tutu's and am making one for Baby Kay's first birthday tea! We are all ballerina mad at the minute getting things together. And it is a lovely reminder to enjoy this time I have with her! Thanks for a great post - really enjoyed reading it this evening! What a sweet story. I remember so many of the cakes my mom made me when I was growing up. Amazing what our moms could do for us with a little imagination and a lot of hard work, isn't it?

I love the little ballerinas, they are so pretty. Your birthday cake sounds dreamy, I'm going to keep that one in mind. I make cakes and may be able to use that idea someday.

Oh, I love those cake toppers! I wanted to be a ballerina too. However, my toes are very happy I was not able to pursue that career!
