Movie Monday
Many of you have probably already seen this HBO mini-series of John Adams. I am a little behind the times. I had to wait for it to come out of DVD. I thought this was an excellent show. We broke it down into several nights due to the length of the film. But I truly enjoyed the movie. I have always loved history and this was such an informative movie. Check it out when you can.

More Doilies!
My lovely mother-in-law has brought over more wonderful doilies that she has made for me to use. I cannot believe the generosity of this wonderful lady! She has made more than 40 of them for me since Christmas. I am staying busy starching and ironing them for display!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

I Love Goals
All of my life, I have been a list maker and loved to sit down and create goals for my life. I would spend hours making graphs, charts and projections. I have preached to my children that if you do not know where you are going in life, how will you know when you are there?
For many years, my dreams were crushed, suppressed and generally discouraged. It was only after my divorce that I was able to get up, brush myself off and step out on faith. A very wise person told me one day, that no one could hold me back now but me. I took that advice to heart and created a life plan. I tried to make goals for each quarter, so that I could measure my success and not become discouraged in the process.
I have completely succeeded in reaching my goals to date. In fact so much so that, I have to sit down and create some more. I have plans to start back to school in the summer. I will begin working on another degree to advance my education. My job is wonderful, but I can see that more education will benefit me in the next few years. I have a dream of reaching higher goals with this company. I want to obtain my master's degree in nursing education and ultimately my doctorate degree. YIKES! It is very scary to write those words. But to write them holds me accountable to myself.
I also have dreams and goals of travel. I have so many destinations I want to see in my life. The only way to do this is to plan them, set a goal, break it down and accomplish it little by little. I have discovered that even a huge goal is obtainable by breaking it down and taking each step. Every little step you take gets you closer to the realization of your dream. I used to have a paper that had all of my classes on it. I had to take each one before I could finish my nursing degree. At the end of each semester, I would take a marker and draw a line through it. I cant tell you how much relief and happiness I felt when that last class was finished! Bit by bit I managed to get through it. I had this paper taped on my bathroom wall. I kept it before my face everyday to remind me of what I had set out to do.
Never give up on your dreams and goals in life. It doesn't matter how old you are, or how little education you have. I have discovered that if you step out on faith and believe in yourself, you can do anything you set your mind to. Never, ever give up on your dreams!

New Things!
I received some new things I ordered from Tracie at http://mypetitemaison.blogspot.com/
I bought the most wonderful little bottle with bath salts. The bottle has an image of Marie Antoinette on the outside.
Tracie was so kind to include a wonderful bookmark, extra bath salts and some dried flowers to decorate the bottle with. When the package arrived I opened it to the heavenly smell of lavender which is my favorite! Everything was wrapped and smelled so good. I hated to open it. Please visit her when you can I know you will love her shop.

Time For A Picnic!
I have been browsing for some picnic ideas and run across all of these wonderful picnic baskets!
I thought this one was very unusual! Looks like lots of room for treats.
This was called a wine and cheese basket. It looks yummy also!
I will have to look around locally for some older baskets. I used to have one and let it go years ago in a garage sale. Hubby and I just bought a really cute wine holder. It is insulated and has a cork screw with it. Just right to carry on the motorcycle.

Movie Monday
I wanted to share with you some of my favorite books and movies. If you have never read the Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke, you are in for a real treat. I discovered this series of books way back in 1983. I loved all pioneer books and this was a new series of christian based books my local Bible store carried. I could not get enough! I devoured them and wished for more. I was very happy when Michael Landon Jr made the books into movies. However, he has not been true to the books. I get aggravated at some of the changes he has made to the stories. But, they are good family based movies and I highly recommend them. But, I encourage you to read her books. I have been an avid fan for years and know you will enjoy them.
Hugs to all

Happy Pink Saturday!
Happy Pink Saturday! Please enjoy this wonderful day! Beverly over at How Sweet the Sound is our host for this event today!
Spring is already in the air in Texas. We have enjoyed some beautiful weather the past few days. The trees are in bloom, the azaleas are pretty in pink.

I am hoping for some luck with the roses this year. I have planted several bushes and am hoping they will thrive this year in the front yard.
I love Spring. It really makes it hard to stay at work, when I really want to be at home working in the gardens.
This has been a great year for change so far. I have a new home, new job, new husband. And it is only March! Thanks for all of the well wishes on the job. I have had a good week. Lots of responsibility goes with it and have not had time to comment on many blogs this week. I hope to catch up soon. Enjoy the weekend.

A Favorite Recipe!
Here is a great little recipe that I use several times a month. It is quick, easy and delicious! I do not have a picture of it, but here is my recipe for Chicken Pot Pie.
Before I leave for work, I place two chicken breasts in the crock pot to cook all day.
I mix one can of cream of chicken soup and one can of the chicken broth in a saucepan until smooth, add 1 tsp of poultry seasoning, one can of veg-all drained and the two chicken breasts chopped. Mix over med heat until bubbly. Pour entire content into ready made pie shell and top with another pie shell, or you can use one of the frozen roll out pie crusts if you want it to look pretty. Place in oven and bake at 350 degrees until pie crust is brown and bubbly. It usually bakes for about 20-25 minutes. You can also use salt and pepper in it. I am trying to cut out some of the salt in our diet, so I use the poultry seasoning instead.
This is so quick and easy, it does not take long to put together after a long day at work. I usually serve with a side salad. My kids just love it. Hope you do too!

New Brighton!
I just love Brighton! I think I fell in love with it many years ago when I won a Brighton red straw purse in a giveaway. So, every once in a while I treat myself to a new item. I bought this cute bumble bee key fob and matching straw bag a few weeks ago. I have a black shell, black trousers and bright yellow jacket that I wear with it. It is such a cute purse.
While doing some online browsing this week, I also saw this cute black and white paisley bag, it is on my wish list! Thought it would look cute with jeans.
And of course I love the red flower on it. I really want the red Brighton luggage, but it is way out of my reach in price. I just cant justify it at all. I look on eBay alot trying to find it, but have not come across a set that is affordable. :(
I start my new job tomorrow, so not sure yet what my schedule will be. Hoping my Internet access does not go out again. The company is sending me a new modem this week. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Thanks to all who left messages and hope you will bear with me during this time. I really missed blogging this week!

A Lazy Day!
I was able to sleep in this morning, I awoke to a very cold rainy day. Sweetie had built me a fire before he left, and made a large pot of coffee for me to enjoy. I have spent the day watching old favorite movies, made a pot of soup and blog hopped. I have really enjoyed catching up on all of the blogs on my list. I always get so far behind on the days I work.
The weather is dreadful outside, I am afraid the next few days are going to be the same. I looking forward to Springtime. Of course we have to have rain to have flowers, so be it.
So as you can see by the movies I have watched today, I have spent the majority of the day in the European countryside. Mr Darcy, Elizabeth, Marie Antoinette, and Jane have all kept me company today.
Tomorrow I have to venture out in the rain for a hair appointment and grocery shopping. Hoping you have a restful day.

Good News!
I received the results of my testing today and I am fine. No damage to my heart, like we thought at first. Thanks be to God! One really bad thing about being a nurse, you take care of everyone but yourself. Changes are coming! I am putting myself first for a while. I am hoping this new job will be a good start. I have a few days off and plan to work on the entryway. I tore the wallpaper off several weeks ago and need to texture and paint the walls, add a new light fixture and some pictures. But tomorrow I am resting, puttering around the house and catching up on blog reading! Love you all, and thanks for all the well wishes.

Marie Antoinette
Today, I wanted to share with you a picture of a lamp that my Granny passed along to me. When I was a little girl, I used to sit and gaze at this lamp. Wondering who she was, where she was going and what it would be like to be her. I did not recognize who it was for many years. I always thought it was Cinderella. Now, I believe it is Marie Antoinette.
Isn't she just lovely? I want to get the lamp rewired so I can use it again. It is just beautiful when it is lit. Hope you are having a great day.
Hugs,
Lorri :)

Stressed Out!
I am going today to have a stress test. Several months ago, I had some issues that I chose to ignore. I just happened to have an EKG done before oral surgery in January and discovered that I have changes on my EKG test. I went to a Cardiologist this past week and he recommends further testing. So, I am off to run the race!
Wish me luck and please keep me in your prayers!

Changes Are On the Horizon!
Every once in a while, I realize that my tastes have changed. Whether it be food, decor, hobbies or just something like a hairstyle.
Well, I am at a crossroads again. I am taking on a new job with more responsibility. I am discovering new hobbies that I am interested in and have decided that my decorating tastes have changed. Nothing major, but I would like a little softer look for the summer. I have always been a red girl and I expect that will never change. But I am really liking the white quilt I chose for my bedroom with just touches of red here and there. This may just be a passing fancy, but I am trying it on for size.
Look for new things on my blog over the next few months. I have decided that change is a good thing!

I did not set my clocks ahead an hour before I went to bed last night. Oh well, Sunday dinner may be at 1pm. But at least I did get an extra hour of R&R. Have a great day!

I had stopped by Walmart yesterday and they had all of the tulips marked down to $2! I snatched a couple of bunches to brighten my day!
I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

Computer Woes!
I am experiencing computer problems with my laptop. Apparently the back light has gone out on it. I will be using my husbands computer, but all of my pictures, icons to blogs I was watching, documents and everything else is unattainable. Please bear with me. Not sure how I am going to retrieve all of my pictures in my files. I will be able to continue to blog and answer email, just will take me awhile to get used to this new system.
Thanks,
Lorri
