Colorado Vacation

Last July we took a last minute vacation to Colorado. We flew out of Dallas Tx, landed in Denver and rented a convertable. We had the most wonderful time.
The weather was spectacular. Denver was a little warm, so we took off with the top down, wind blowing through our hair. We travelled on to Estes Park, where it quickly became chilly! The top went up pretty quick.

I loved the mountains. The air, the freshness, everything was so green.

There was still snow on the mountaintops in the park.

This was in Vail, Colorado. This bear was made out of hundreds of nails!

We saw elk everywhere!

We were eating at KFC and saw an elk just walking down the city street! Could not believe it!

The water was soooo cold.

Due to school this summer, we are not travelling anywhere. Hope you have enjoyed my trips I took last summer. We had some great times with our friends. We really love to travel and have some planned for next spring, but education comes first!

New Toy

Last week I fell into temptation and bought an Iphone. Ok, it is complicated. I loved my Blackberry and had just figured it out when I decided that a new phone was just what I needed. It has all of the gadgets that you can imagine and lots of great new applications to download. The problem I am having with it is the text messaging. My Blackberry had buttons on it. You could feel them, touch them and push them. The Iphone has a touch screen . Basically this means that when you touch it, a letter or number will appear. Now, it may not be the one you intended to hit, so you have to be very careful about what you text. I have sent some out this week and the reply came back "huh???" Then you have to do it all over again. It has been quite frustrating for me to get the hang of it. And it is impossible to text quickly. It takes twice as long as the previous phone. Well, the jury is still out on whether I keep it or not. I miss my Blackberry! But I am willing to give the Iphone a fair shake!

More Vacation Pictures

War Eagle Mills. One of the oldest working mills in America. They serve breakfast here that is out of this world. You are also able to buy fresh ground flour, cornmeal, wonderful cookbooks and lots of unique items.
The Cresent Hotel. This is where Donnie and I got married last October. It is a wonderul place to visit!

Here is another view of the hotel.

The temperature is always a bit chilly here, due to the mountain area.

Standing in front of one of our favorite places to eat. The gardens are to die for!
Have a great day!

Movie Monday!

This is an older movie, but I still love to watch it. Late last night we popped it in and watched it again. I love the cat and mouse game that is played out by the characters in the movie. He is a wealthy business man who is bored with life and plans a very detailed operation to steal a priceless Monet painting. The bounty hunter(Russo) is hard and fast on his trail to recover the stolen artwork at all costs. She plays a very intelligent detective who finds the stolen art, but falls in love with him in the end. It is a fast pace movie and I think you will like it! Enjoy!

Southern Living At Home

Several years ago I attended my first Southern Living At Home party. I love this stuff! My daughter is now a consultant, and so happy that she is. I get to keep up with all of the great items as they are introduced. Every month they have customer specials and hostess specials up to 80% off retail price. If you have never seen a catalog go online and check it out!

Movie Monday!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We went riding on the motorcycle and enjoyed the cooler temperatures.
Over the weekend, I rented the movie Grey Gardens. Many of you may remember the original documentary that was filmed in the 1970's about Edith Beale and her daughter. The movie, starts out showing the film crew making the documentary and then skips back and forth between the past and present. Edith Beale was the aunt of Jackie Kennedy. She fell on hard times after her husband walked out on her. She resided in a very exclusive neighborhood in the east Hamptons. The house quickly fell into disrepair and without any money to fix it, the city moved in to evict her. When they arrived, there were 75 cats, raccoons and various other "pets" in the house. Edith lived in total squalor with her daughter who seemed to live in the past. Little Edie had dreams of becoming an actress and could not get past the fact that she did not have the talent to make it big. Edith vowed to never leave her home and at the last minute Jackie stepped in with a clean up crew to get the house back in shape. When Edith died, little Edie did sell the house and was able to buy an apartment to live in.
I have mixed feelings about this show. While it is interesting to watch. I couldnt help feeling disturbed by this woman and her inability to break free from the fantasy world she lived in. It seemed to me that both women lived a wasted life. Let me know what you think.

Pennies From Heaven

I was cleaning house this morning and listening to some 40"s Big Band music when Pennies From Heaven started to play. It made me think if little blessings are like pennies, and we add them all up. It really starts to amount to something. All of those little things like a great parking spot, a $1 off coupon on an item you need or maybe a sale on your favorite perfume. All of those things are little blessings from above. Created to make your life easier, just a little blessing from our Father who loves you! When we stop to think about all of the small things we are blessed with, it really inspires me! Look around today and see what blessings you have!

It's My Birthday!

Today was my birthday! I chose this luscious looking pink cake for my pretend party. Come on over and have a piece with a cup of great coffee!

It was a good day. My hubby sent me 2 dozen wonderful roses and a beautiful card with money!! I got a manicure and pedicure from Gina, money from my mother and tons of cards and text messages. We are all going out tomorrow night to eat sushi for dinner, and all of my kiddos will be there! So it was a great day in spite of having to work. My boss took me out to lunch at Johnny Carino's. We shared the italian chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert.

Hope your day was just as wonderful!

Fields of Lavender

I love lavender! It is one of my favorite herbs. I use lavender soap, lavender water to spritz my laundry and dried lavender to freshen my sheets.
Can you just imagine how heavenly it must smell?

I would love to walk through these fields and take in the aroma of the sweetness.

Have a great day. And be sure to stop and smell the lavender.
