Fabric Hoarder

I've been holding on to several fat quarter bundles of Bonnie and Camille fabric. So today, I listed a bundle of Ruby and Happy Go Lucky that I have never opened. Will I regret it? Probably! But the fact is I have more fabric than I will ever be able to sew in my lifetime! I have three daughters and not a single one of them interested in sewing.

I haven't sold anything on Ebay in several months, so I will see how it goes! I hope you have a great week. I'm back at work tomorrow!

It's Monday!

I dusted off my featherweight Singer sewing machine over the weekend. I haven't used it very much since I bought it a few years ago. I need to take my Janome in for a spa day and get her ready for some serious sewing! I have fabric just waiting to be made into quilts and also some drapes I need to sew for the dining room.

I love samplers and discovered this wonderful piece for $18.00. It is not dated, but the colors are very bright and I thought it was beautiful. I've always loved cross stitch samplers, but they were out of my budget. Over the years I have picked up a few from the early 1900"s, that I have found in junk stores. I did happen to win a great schoolgirl sampler off  Ebay a few years ago. Since they are so hard to find in this part of the country, I will have to be satisfied with my pintrest board.

I took some time this weekend to tidy up my sewing spaces. Target has great plastic bins that I picked up on clearance. I wish there had been more of them. I was able to sort through some fat quarters and put them in order of color. I also found a quilt kit that somehow had been stuck in the bottom of a basket! I have 3 shelves from Ikea that are in my sewing room and I love them. They are so handy with adjustable shelving and I can see my fabric at a glance. Hope you had a great weekend and a wonderful week!

Chocolate Pie

You just cant go wrong with a Chocolate pie
Here is my grandmothers recipe. I hope you enjoy! Have a happy day!
baked pie shell ( I cannot make piecrust)
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 cups milt
1tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

In a large saucepan, combine flour, cocoa, sugar, salt and egg yolks. Stir in milk and cook over a medium fire stirring constantly with a whisk. Filling will thicken quickly, so stay on it! Afterwards add vanilla and mix well. Pour into baked pie shell.
Beat the 4 eggs whites until stiff and pour onto pie filling. Bake in over at 350 degrees until golden brown!

Busy Week

I haven't had a moment to sew or quilt this week. Last Saturday we bought a new house and I have been busy gathering paperwork, meeting with the realtor, and making plans. When I got to work on Monday, I had 4 people out sick with the flu and one of them was my assistant, so my work week was in an upheaval from day one! I was happy to see Friday this week, it was slow to get here!
Don't you just love the front porch on this house! There is a glassed in summer porch on the back of the house that looks out onto the yard. If you have ever read my blog, you know I have this thing for houses. All of my life we traded houses every few years when I was a child, then I married a contractor and spent many years flipping houses. In contrast, my husband has lived in the same house for 35 years. We currently live in his home and our new house is at the end of the street. So we are not moving far, but there is more room. I will have a true quilt studio in this house and be able to buy a long arm quilter!
I have numerous projects that I have begun and I need to spend time finishing them, but now I need to pack, have a garage sale and move. There will be some painting and new floor coverings going down, but my son will help me with that. I'm hoping to spend a couple hours this afternoon sorting through my fabrics and attend a birthday party for one of my grandsons. Have a happy week!

Crossroads Quilt Along

I love this quilt! Fat Quarter Shop will be hosting a quilt along using Fig Tree Fabrics, Strawberry Fields Revisited. They will post a new block each month on their website, so you can sew along all year!
My fabric came in today and its gorgeous! I cant wait to download the first pattern and get started. There are so many wonderful quilt along's this year that I am having a very hard time choosing which I can participate it. I don't want to over commit myself and fall behind. Hope you enjoyed your week and having a great weekend!
